ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The largest school district in Virginia is facing yet another threat from the U.S. Department of Education. This week, the Trump administration told Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) that if it fails to reverse its bathroom and locker room policies, it could lose millions of dollars in grants for magnet school programs.

There are three magnet schools in Fairfax County, including Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology . An FCPS spokesperson said the school system is reviewing and researching on what programs would be affected since there are multiple federal grants involved.

The policy in question allows students to use facilities that match their gender identity.
