Edmonton police issued 323 traffic violations during their most recent 24-hour traffic campaign last week.
Of the 323 tickets issued on Sept. 11, 68 were related to speed, which is 21 per cent of the total tickets issued, police said in a Wednesday news release. There were eight distracted driving violations, 38 hazardous infractions (moving violations) and 108 non-hazardous TSA infractions (equipment, documents).
There was one criminal code driving offence and one criminal charge as a result of the vehicle stops. EPS works with City of Edmonton automated enforcement during this campaign, which caught 98 automated red light violations.
“In just 24 hours, our traffic officers stopped 68 drivers for speeding,” said EPS Staff Sgt. Rob Davis in the release.
