GOUVERNEUR, New York (WWNY) - In Gouverneur, a trustee says the village plans to spend $4.5 million in state money on things that are not in the best interest of the community.
Park improvements, a facelift to the village office facade, and downtown accessibility. Those are things that the planning committee did not include when deciding how to spend the NY Forward Grant.
“All those people that are seated on the board need to come off. You need a whole new board seated, and you need to start the process again,” said Troy Besaw, a village trustee.
The village received the grant earlier this year, aimed at improving the community. Since then, a local committee, chosen by the mayor and approved by the state, has been listening to suggestions from residents on where the money should be spen
