IOWA CITY — Few teams generated more turnovers than Iowa last season. The Hawkeyes’ 1.8 turnovers per game ranked 18 th nationally and second in the Big Ten to Indiana.

Through three games this season, it’s been a different story for the Iowa defense, which has yet to force a turnover.

The struggles to create takeaways earned the Hawkeye defensive back room, which refers to itself as the Doughboyz, a new nickname from assistant coach Seth Wallace.

“Coach Wallace is funny,” cornerback TJ Hall said. “He calls us the ‘No Boyz’ because we have no turnovers.”

Hall said their new nickname only serves to motivate the defensive back room to regain its opportunistic and game-altering standard of play.
