The Mississippi State Medical Examiner has come to the conclusion that the hanging death of Demartravion "Trey" Reed from a tree at Delta State University was consistent with suicide.

"Findings were consistent with the initial investigation, determining the cause of death to be hanging and the manner of death as suicide. Final toxicology results are pending and may take two to four weeks to complete," the statement from the state medical examiner's office said.

Reed , who was 21 and from Grenada, was found hanging from a tree on campus on Monday, Sept. 15. The Bolivar County Coroner had originally ruled the death of the Black man from Grenada to be suicide.

The DSU hanging was one of two hangings in Mississippi on Sept. 15.
