CLEVELAND, Miss. (WLBT) - The death of a Delta State University student, whose body was found hanging from a tree at the beginning of the week, has been ruled a suicide.

This according to a statement from the Cleveland Police Department on Thursday, with the conclusion being brought after an autopsy performed at the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office.

On Monday, the body of Demartravion “Trey” Reed, 21, a Black student at Delta State, was found hanging from a tree on the university’s campus.

A coroner with the Bolivar County Coroner’s Office said on Monday that based on their preliminary examination, Reed was not suffering from any lacerations, contusions, compound fractures, broken bones, or injuries consistent with assault.
