BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Trial is underway for the Baton Rouge man accused of raping a young woman and then attacking her family members when caught.
Accused rapist Clarence Haynes, 45, is charged with aggravated first-degree rape and domestic abuse battery for the January 2022 rape of an 18-year-old woman.
Prosecutors allege that on New Year’s Day in 2022, Haynes was alone with the 18-year-old victim and another teen when he was discovered raping the young woman.
Police said Haynes then began to beat the person who discovered the act.
According to arrest documents, the 18-year-old woman has cognitive issues which left her functioning in the capacity of a 3rd grader.
Baton Rouge District Judge Bonnie Jackson is presiding over the case.
