A woman has been killed after being hit by a lorry on a main road in Lancashire. The victim, in her 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene of the horror collision.

Police and paramedics were called to North Valley Road in Colne at around 10.44am to reports a DAF truck had struck a pedestrian.

The victim's family are currently being supported by specially trained family liaison officers, Lancashire Police said.

A 65-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and is currently in custody to be questioned.
