DODGE CITY, Kan. (KSNW) -- The cause of a fire inside a Dodge City quilt shop in the early morning hours of Wednesday remains undetermined.

The Dodge City Fire Department says crews have had to return to the site several times now to put out smoldering areas of the building and deal with smoke. A fence has been placed around the building for public safety.

The Birds of a Feather Quilt Shop at 314 W. Spruce St. suffered extensive damage, including a collapsed roof. The state fire marshal's office is investigating what may have caused the blaze.

Third Avenue between Vine and Spruce Street, which had originally been closed, has since reopened. However, the alley behind the building remains closed.

A GoFundMe has been set up for the quilt shop.
