NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – In June the Arkansas Travelers took to the field dressed as the Barkansas Dizzys for an entire week in celebration of the team’s beloved ballpark pup. This week the team was nominated by Minor League Baseball for the Best New Alternate Identity award.
All season long, Dizzy could be seen playing on the grass before games at CHI St. Vincent Field at Dickey-Stephens Park alongside Greg Johnston, the team’s vice president of stadium operations. He could also be found meeting fans, “signing” pawtographs and receiving belly rubs at the home plate gate. • Dizzy poses with a plush toy of himself at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock.
