BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor’s Office estimates there are hundreds of properties that need to be condemned and bulldozed, which are in various stages of the process, creating a big blight problem for the city.

The Baton Rouge blight dashboard only indicates 71 properties need to be torn down, 515 properties need to be cleaned up, and more than 1,000 properties were reported to the city with high grass.

“These blighted properties are very difficult to deal with and make something happen right away,” said Baton Rouge Assistant Chief Administrative Officer William Daniel.

Many of the properties were introduced for demolition at Metro Council meetings, but were then deleted and rescinded from the council’s agenda.
