FARGO — A Fargo-Moorhead nonprofit is asking for the community’s help to support Ukrainian families.
FM Volunteers for Ukraine is holding its first public fundraiser 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 21, at Gooseberry Park.
Money raised will help Ukrainian families living in the metro cover essentials like rent, tuition and phone bills while they wait for work renewals.
The group’s founder said the fundraiser is about more than financial support.
"In most cases, they've lost really, not only just their physical homes, their physical possessions. They've lost their past, they've lost their present and they've lost their future," said Michael Southam, founder of FM Volunteers for Ukraine.
The event will feature Ukrainian musicians, children’s activities, a peace mural, raffles and traditional
