LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (KCTV) - A Kansas City woman will spend less than a year behind bars after she attempted to use forged documents to purchase a vehicle in Leavenworth County.

The Leavenworth County Attorney’s Office has announced that on Wednesday, Sept. 17, Michelle V. Burnett, 33, was sentenced to spend 10 months in prison for forgery.

Court documents indicated that on Feb. 19, 2025, an employee of a Leavenworth County car dealership reported a customer attempted to buy a vehicle with a fake ID.

When investigators arrived, they said they were told that “Michelle Henderson,” later identified as Burnett, attempted to get a loan to purchase a car, but had a suspicious Kansas driver’s license.
