NORFOLK, Va. — A preliminary hearing held Thursday revealed the extensive criminal charges being brought against a Navy sailor accused of killing fellow sailor Angelina Resendiz .

Navy Seaman Jermiah T. Copeland faces a premeditated murder charge in connection with the death of 21-year-old Angelina Resendiz, who went missing from her barracks room at Naval Station Norfolk on May 29.

Resendiz's body was discovered nearly two weeks later in a wooded area of the Broad Creek neighborhood, about 10 miles from the base.

Charge documents obtained by 13News Now show Copeland faces one charge of premeditated murder, two charges of making false statements and three obstruction of justice charges related to Resendiz's case.
