VANCOUVER, Wash. — Investigators are awaiting the results of a toxicology test after arresting a man for allegedly running over a father and his 6-year-old child Wednesday afternoon. Court documents allege that driver James Paulson was acting erratically when he spoke with officers following the crash.
The crash happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. at Northeast 137th Avenue and Northeast 64th Circle. When officers arrived, they found 28-year-old Jose Quevedo dead and his 6-year-old critically injured. The child was rushed to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the arresting officer, a red Dodge pickup was crashed into a metal post and a backyard fence on the east side of the road, facing north. It had significant front-end damage.
