LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Some of Louisville's busiest roads are getting an overhaul.
A big project is underway on Market Street in NuLu. Other, smaller, plans are focused on converting stretches of one-way roads to two-way.
Michael King with the city's newly-launched Department of Transportation said the city is studying ways to create more walkability and connectivity between neighborhoods in a manner that also improves safety.
King said that's why they are looking to convert one-way streets, designed to keep cars moving quickly, into two-way. He explained the process of doing just that.
"Add some different striping," King said. "Add signals where we need to to really build out a two-way system for our downtown that makes it safer for everybody, especially for pedestrians."
