HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Located at the Coral Commercial Center in Kakaako, Idea’s Music and Books is an iteration of Jelly’s Comics and Books, a shop that may have been part of your teens or childhood back in the 1980s or 1990s.
“Jelly’s was wild,” said Shirley Neely, longtime Jelly’s employee and co-owner of Idea’s Music and Books. “People from all kinds, all walks of life came in; elderly people, young people, because they were doing the baseball cards, and all the ones in between.”
The charming bookstore first opened as Jelly’s along Keeaumoku Street in 1983.
“From working at Jelly’s to here, it’s pretty much, very much the same. It’s like a family-oriented thing,” said Kevin Sano, who works in the comic book section at Idea’s. “There’s something for everybody here.”
