Republicans say they want more information on whether a plan to use state pension funds to buy a share of the Connecticut Sun is actually a good investment.

Gov. Ned Lamont (D-Connecticut) and Treasurer Erick Russell (D) have backed a plan to use invest the funds as part of a bid, joined by private investors, to buy a share of the team.

But the two have given few details about how the deal would be structured, prompting Republicans to ask questions during a press conference Thursday at the Legislative Office Building.

“Is this for return on investment or is this for economic development,” Rep. Vincent Candelora (R-Minority Leader) said.
