NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans East is one of the most populated areas in New Orleans, but ever since Hurricane Katrina resources and economic development has been scarce. Resident and community advocate Tangee Wall says while post Katrina resources were understandably focused on tourist areas like downtown and the French Quarter, officials never turned to the east.
"We look at progress being made in so many other districts of this city and we sit and wonder," Wall, who's also President of New Orleans East Matters, said.
Wall says residents in New Orleans east contribute so much to the city's taxes, but unfortunately, don't see the same return on investment. The for things to change. Wall believes the next Mayor needs to focus on retail and dining.
"It doesn’t make sense for a population o
