DORA, Ala. (WIAT) -- The city of Dora enacted a no burn order on Sunday, as the city continues to suffer from a serious rainfall deficit of around two and a half inches.
On Thursday, CBS 42 caught up with a family who was using a burn barrel to try and safely dispose of rotten wood removed from two houses during a remodeling project. They were surprised when the police and fire chief showed up Thursday morning to inform them that open burning is no longer allowed in the city limits.
Kiala Light and her dad, Drenen Goldsmith, were doing a controlled burn to try and dispose of the wood, since the landfill in Dora is no longer open.
“Yes, it completely makes sense, completely. Even though it rained just a smidge last night, it wasn’t enough, so I understand,” Light explained.
