Martin Scorsese has set his next directorial job — an adaptation of the ghost story novel “What Happens at Night” starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence .
Apple Original Films is in talks to finance and produce the movie with Studiocanal. Studiocanal acquired the rights to Peter Cameron’s acclaimed novel in 2023, with Scorsese on board to produce and Patrick Marber adapting the screenplay.
While Scorsese and DiCaprio have enjoyed a legendary run as collaborators — making six feature films over two decades — “What Happens at Night” would mark Scorsese’s first time directing Lawrence. (To note: the storied filmmaker produced her upcoming drama “Die My Love.”) DiCaprio and Lawrence previously co-starred in 2021’s apocalyptic dramedy “Don’t Look Up” from Adam McKay.
