TEXAS, USA — Texas lawmakers have established new committees to examine freedom of speech and civil discourse on college campuses, citing concerns about ideological balance in higher education. The committees include Central Texas representatives Rep. Shelby Slawson and Rep. Brad Buckley.
House Speaker Dustin Burrows and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick announced the formation of House and Senate Select Committees on Civil Discourse and Freedom of Speech in Higher Education, saying they were created to "honor the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk."
