PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (ABC22/FOX44) - There are almost daily developments in the race for the North Country's open assembly seat, after the special election was announced Monday.
On Thursday, a complaint was filed against Democratic candidate Michael Cashman.
Last month, Cashman, who is the Plattsburgh town supervisor, announced his plans to run for the seat in New York’s 115th assembly district. Now, he could be facing an investigation because of the location of his announcement.
According to Jeff Luck, vice chair of the Clinton County Republican committee: a complaint alleges that Cashman broke state law by announcing his candidacy for assembly inside the Town of Plattsburgh town hall, and placing a campaign banner over a government-owned podium.
