Earlier this month, the city’s Planning Commission greenlit a massive rezoning plan for Long Island City, Queens.

The project calls for the construction of nearly 15,000 new apartments in the northwestern section of the neighborhood — about 4,300 of those units would be affordable.

Officials say the plan would create a ton of new commercial and community space, as well as bring thousands of new jobs to the area, but the rezoning changes are not a done deal until the City Council gives final approval.

On Wednesday, the final public hearing on the project was held, and a number of concerns were brought up, including climate commitments and green space.
