SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Springfield Public Schools cut the ribbon on a new addition to Wilder Elementary.

A bond issue approved by voters paid for the more than $1.5 million classroom project. The addition includes four classrooms. Pershing Elementary School students will use those classrooms while their school is rebuilt.

“Pershing, some students joined us this year, and we are getting more next year,” said Wilder Elementary School Principal Allison Hangen. “And so these classrooms are gonna ensure that we have the space and the capacity to grow with them as a community and have them join the Wilder family.”

In 2024, Wilder opened a new gymnasium that also houses the school’s music facility and serves as a storm shelter.
