Bishop William Barber II is taking his social justice movement to California on Saturday to show support for immigrant families.
Operation Liberty will deploy “rapid-response vehicles with cameras and trained volunteers and clergy leaders to document ICE raids, detentions, and family separations in real time,” according to Repairers of the Breach, an organization he cofounded to advocate for poor people.
Barber, a North Carolina native, recently held an online event marking the Sept. 15, 1963, bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, a hate crime that claimed the lives of four Black girls.
