DENTON, N.C. — The City of Wilmington has confirmed that Confederate statues that were removed from the city five years ago now resides in Davidson County, according to CBS station WWAY.

The statues, one of which depicts Confederate Attorney General George Davis, were located at Third Street and Market Street. Wilmington officials opted to remove the statues in June 2020 as protests over the death of George Floyd broke out across the country.

According to WWAY, the Wilmington City Council voted to permanently remove the statues in 2021.

On Thursday, the City of Wilmington told WWAY in a statement that the statues are now at Valor Memorial Park in Denton, Davidson County.
