TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Last month, colorful crosswalks in Tallahassee were removed by FDOT after a federal transportation order.

Now, the group behind some of those crosswalks, the Knight Creative Communities Institute (KCCI), is planning a new project to add public art back to locations where the crosswalks are now paved over.

KCCI is looking for volunteers to bring art back to neighborhoods next year as part of its 2026 placemaking initiative.

The volunteers, known as “Community Catalysts,” will work with schools, local government, and other groups to create public projects.
