DES MOINES — A 6-run top of the ninth inning by the visiting Toledo Mud Hens propelled them to a 10-4 victory Thursday over the Iowa Cubs at Principal Park.
All six runs were charged to Iowa relief pitcher Gavin Hollowell, who suffered the loss on the mound.
Driving in runs for Toledo (82-65) in the inning were Gage Workman, Max Anderson, Andrew Navigato, Kevin Newman, and Riley Unroe.
Detroit Tigers reliever Kyle Finnegan, making a rehab start for the Mud Hens, threw 13 pitches in two-thirds of an inning. He was pulled from the game after issuing a two-out walk to Iowa’s Carlos Perez.
Among his 13 pitches, Finnegan threw seven 4-seam fastballs with an average velocity of 96.6 mph. He threw his splitter six times at an average velocity of 86.9 mph.
