TRADE, Tenn. — After the devastation left behind by Hurricane Helene , one small business in western North Carolina became a beacon of hope and support for survivors.
When the storm hit, Ashley Galleher, the owner of Zionville Ramp Company, didn’t hesitate to pivot. What was once a skate park quickly transformed into a hub for recovery.
“Having faith in the community and having faith that this community will take care of each other,” Galleher said.
In the days following Helene, the skate park became a full-fledged resource center — distributing food, water and essential supplies to neighbors in need. Volunteers and donations poured in, allowing the space to serve thousands.
