Police believe the missing pilot who crashed a light aircraft in the Budawang National Park in NSW is unlikely to have survived the impact.
Outside Ulladulla Police Station, Detective Chief Inspector David Cockram said that while the circumstances of the crash were unknown, rescue services were not optimistic about the pilot's condition.
"The inquiries we've made with air traffic controllers and air safety last night, they're of the view, unfortunately, that the fellow wouldn't survive the impact they've observed," said Inspector David Cockram.
Although significant resources had been deployed, Inspector Cockram said the crash site could only be accessed on foot.
