HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A mother and daughter accused in the brutal beating of a Wahiawa woman with special needs appeared in court Thursday.

They both pleaded not guilty in their arraignment to the respective charges they face.

Around the time this case made headlines in May, charges were initially dropped pending further investigation. But nearly four months later, a teenager, her mom, and six other juveniles have been charged.

Jasmine Keola, 18, appeared before a judge on charges of kidnapping, assault, and multiple counts of theft. She’s one of the accused attackers of 21-year-old Carly Ng earlier this year.

The victim has special needs, and the video of the assault quickly spread online, infuriating the community.
