Fremantle AFLW star Emma O’Driscoll has seen first-hand how concussion can derail a career.

But despite a recent head knock, she has vowed to not live in fear.

O’Driscoll made a winning return to the field in Sunday’s western derby win over West Coast following a head knock against North Melbourne late last month.

For the passionate, exuberant rebounding defender, missing a game in itself was hard enough, but there was extra emotion at play in light of concussion forcing her brother Aiden to end his AFL career before it began.

The youngest of three O’Driscoll siblings in the professional system, Aiden was forced to medically retire in May 2024, aged 18, after suffering a head injury during his first pre-season with the Western Bulldogs.
