Anthony Albanese has defended his government’s ambitious new climate target, declaring the shift to renewable energy is both an economic necessity and a cost-of-living measure for Australian households - but has failed to guarantee if prices will fall.
The comments come a day after the government accepted the Climate Change Authority’s advice to cut national emissions by between 62 and 70 per cent by 2035.
In order to get there over 90 per cent of electricity will need to be renewable and over 4,000 metres of new transition lines need to be built.
“We want to make sure that we address the living standards and cost of living. The advantage of solar panels with batteries is that it's doing both. And that is why 60,000 people since July 1 have taken up our batteries rebate policy,” the Pri
