AVON, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -The Avon Pirates are rolling along undefeated and ranked 2nd in Class 9-B. But that’s nothing new for this town. They have a long tradition of excellence on the football field and so the players on this year’s team want to make those before them proud.

Getting to the Dome is not just a goal for these guys, it’s really an expectation.

Justin Lukkes, Avon Football Coach says, “I think it’s passed down from generation to generation to have pride in Avon football and our kids rise to the occasion. You know we teach them to have pride and they should be proud to be an Avon Pirate. They’ve been working hard in the weight room in the off-season and working very hard since football practice began. So they really want to get back to that Dome.”
