People with disabilities, physical or mental health conditions affecting their mobility, or those living with hidden conditions like dementia, autism or Parkinson's disease, could qualify for a Blue Badge to assist with parking nearer to their destinations.

Blue Badge holders, whether driving or travelling as passengers, can use disabled parking spaces without charge and may also receive exemptions from certain parking restrictions. Current statistics show more than 3.2 million Blue Badge holders exist throughout Great Britain.

Nevertheless, revised guidance on MYGOV.SCOT cautions "you may be fined or prosecuted if you misuse a badge" whilst noting that "your local council may ask for your badge to be returned if you misuse it". Rules do differ slightly by local council,
