State Treasurer Deborah Goldberg was issued another legal setback Wednesday in her bid to halt the reinstatement of embattled Shannon O’Brien as chair of the state’s Cannabis Control Commission, according to a court decision.

A single justice of the Massachusetts Appeals Court denied a motion to stop a lower court’s ruling, ordering Goldberg to reinstate O’Brien, according to online court records.

Earlier this month, a Suffolk County judge ruled that Goldberg had wrongly fired O’Brien and ordered O’Brien’s immediate reinstatement to the commission after a two-year absence.
