Coronation Street fans think they have worked out the real reason for a recent change to Betsy Swain's character, and it seemingly seals Becky Swain's return plan.

Those who follow the ITV soap were recently confused to discover that the character, played by Sydney Martin, was celebrating her 18th birthday, after making her first appearance in Weatherfield as a 16-year-old last summer.

Back in June, Sydney addressed her real age and soap age, as she posted two pictures side by side, one of her at the British Soap Awards and another from a photoshoot as her Weatherfield alter-ego.

At the time, Sydney admitted: "Last two posts really highlighting the 15-23 playing age [crying laughing emoji]." She added: "Thank you for the baby face, mum."
