The future of the vacant Derry Village Elementary School will be the focus of a new study group forming to find the best solution for the building.

Ann advisory committee will study Derry Village and its surrounding property and eventually come to a decision on what to do moving forward.

The elementary school was closed at the end of the 2023-2024 school year, part of a restructuring plan in the district that changed the makeup of the remaining school buildings.

That led to sending students in grades 5-6 to the now-named West Running Brook Intermediate School and seventh- and eighth-grade students to Gilbert H. Hood Middle School.
