PORTLAND, Maine — Members of the Maine State Nurses Association announced endorsements Thursday for former state Senate President Troy Jackson in the 2026 governor's race and political newcomer Graham Platner for U.S. Senate.
Union members gathered at the Western Promenade in Portland to make the endorsements, citing patient safety and access to care as key issues.
"There has never been a time in my career when my patients were more in danger," Sarah English, a nurse at Maine Medical Center, said at the event. She referenced federal cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and the Veterans Administration, concerned that rural areas could lose essential services.
