The NHS has issued a warning to the public, urging them not to delay an essential cancer test that could detect early signs of a lethal disease. This at-home screening can catch symptoms of bowel cancer before they might become obvious.
In a post shared on X, the health organisation reminded people about the importance of bowel cancer screening kits, which are provided to everyone aged between 50 and 74. This straightforward procedure involves collecting a sample of faeces at home and sending it off for analysis.
The NHS said: "The NHS bowel cancer screening kit can detect signs of cancer before you notice anything is wrong. If you're sent a bowel cancer screening kit, put it by the loo. Don't put it off."
