LAKEWOOD, Ohio -- One of the biggest economic development projects in Lakewood’s history is about to begin groundbreaking.

The ribbon cutting -- giving way to construction of CASTO Communities and North Pointe Realty’s proposed $115 million mixed-use project planned on the 5.7-acre site of the former Lakewood Hospital -- is expected to happen soon.

“We’re very excited to see the project finally come to fruition,” Lakewood Mayor Meghan George said. “It’s been a long time coming. We’ve been working hard for many years. We had a couple of false starts but are very excited for the city to get this once-in-a-generation development.
