AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - September 19th marks 'National Prisoner of War and Missing in Action Recognition Day', a time when people across America honor those who served and were either held captive during war or never returned.
Ceremonies are taking place in Amherst and Greenfield to commemorate the day, providing an opportunity for communities to reflect on the sacrifices made by service members. The Town of Amherst will be observing POW/MIA Recognition Day during their bi-monthly Veterans' Community Breakfast for All on Friday at 9 a.m. at the Bangs Community Center. Greenfield's ceremony will take place on the Town Common at 11 a.m.
