VERNON, CT (WFSB) - A man with six no-contact orders was arrested for assaulting the victim at a motel in Vernon.

Police, whom have not yet identified the suspect, said they had to deploy spike strips to get him.

They said they were called to the Vernon Motel on Sept. 15 for a reported domestic disturbance.

When they got there, they said they saw the suspect and a woman in a heated altercation near a pickup truck.

Police said they feared that the man would flee in the truck, so an officer positioned himself at the motel exit with a tire deflation device.

Sure enough, they said the man sped off in the truck and climbed a grassy embankment to avoid the officer.

However, police said they were able to successfully deploy the spike strips.
