Kneecap were to perform in Toronto and Vancouver next month

OTTAWA — Members of controversial Irish rap trio Kneecap are barred from entering Canada.

Vince Gasparro, Eglinton-Lawrence MP and parliamentary secretary for combating crime, made the announcement on social media Friday morning, accusing the group of engaging in acts and making statements contrary to Canadian law, causing “deep alarm” to the Canadian government.

“The group have amplified political violence and publicly displayed support for organizations designated as terrorist groups in Canada, such as Hezbollah and Hamas,” Gasparro said.

“These are not expressions of art or legitimate political critique, they are dangerous endorsements of violence and hate.”
