JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. — A man has been arrested and charged in connection with an infant’s death, according to James City County police.
On Sept. 7, shortly before 5 a.m., police and EMS responded to reports of an unresponsive infant at a home in the 3000 block of N. Riverside Drive. The infant was taken to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead.
Following the investigation, 34-year-old Jacob Colby Cunningham was charged with involuntary manslaughter. He turned himself in to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail on Thursday, Sept. 18, and has since been released on bond.
According to a criminal complaint, Jacob Cunningham fed his 7-week-old infant on the couch at around 2:00 a.m. on Sept. 7, then proceeded to burp the child while lying down on the couch.
