PROCTOR, Minn. (Northern News Now) - For over four decades, Scandinavian culture has been celebrated in the Northland.
“When you walk in the door, you’ll smell lefse cooking,” said Gwen Thorson, a chairperson of the Scandinavian Festival. “You’ll be able to see a variety of folk art.”
The festival takes place Saturday, September 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Aspirus St. Luke’s Sports and Event Center.
There will be various artists there, like carves, hardanger, rosemalers, wood turns and silversmith jewelry makers.
Thorson said the event is a good way for people to learn more about the culture.
“Every Scandinavian should come and get a taste or flavor of Scandinavia.” she said. “But really it would be, and we hope, good for anybody to come. We want to expose everyone to our culture.”
