The Met Office has forecast "a little" snow in parts of the UK this weekend as temperatures drop "below average" for the time of year.

Autumn is in full swing now, with cooler weather and shorter days, and just a few weeks into September the Met Office has warned that snow could soon be on the cards.

It comes as a yellow weather warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office affecting large parts of central England from 9am on Saturday morning (September 20) until 6am on Sunday (September 21).

The warnings affect Greater Manchester and the rest of north west England , as well as East Midlands, north east England, Scotland, Wales, West Midlands, and Yorkshire. Content cannot be displayed without consent
