One thing is for sure as No. 20 Vanderbilt readies for Georgia State on Saturday:

The visiting Panthers (1-2) won’t be surprising the unbeaten Commodores (3-0) this season when the teams meet at 6:30 p.m. CT (ESPNU).

Vandy coach Clark Lea has made sure of that this week, reminding his team at every opportunity of what happened last season, when an unfocused — and quite possibly overconfident — bunch of Commodores were stunned 36-32 by a Georgia State team that would go on to finish the year 3-9.

Actually, Lea has been drilling home the Georgia State message for much more than just the past few days.

“The players are all aware of [what happened last year],” Lea said. “We’ve talked about it since January, this game. So this is a really big one for us, and we want to play really well.
