MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) - Moline police say the route of the Homecoming Parade was changed citing road safety concerns and incidents across the country.
The new route starts at 2 p.m. Friday and follows 41st Street to 26th Avenue then 34th Street and ends at Avenue of the Cities.
Officials said the route is equal to previous routes and remains connected to the school campus which makes it easier to secure.
The homecoming parade previously routed onto Avenue of the Cities but officials said with nearly 24,000 vehicles each day, 16 uncontrolled intersections, numerous business driveways and alleys, the parade is left vulnerable.
Due to the vulnerability, officials said the parade was moved to a different route.
